Grindeks informs that starting this autumn in Latvian pharmacies will once again be offered the company`s manufactured vitamins. Vitamin Gritamin® series will have six products – for adults, women, men, children, B complex and vitamin C. Gritamin® packaging design is created in cooperation with the Design Faculty Department of Functional Design of the Art Academy of Latvia.
JSC Grindeks Chairman of the Board Janis Romanovskis: “Our product range is developed year by year, introducing annually at least four new products. Once the vitamins of Grindeks were among the most demanded products, and even until today the company receives many phone calls and letters with questions about vitamins. When carrying out a thorough analysis of the market and listening to the public thoughts, we have developed a new series of vitamins, which composition is suitable for strengthening the immune system exactly in our climatic conditions.”
Starting from this autumn, gradually on sale will go all six products of Gritamin® vitamins series. In order to create an original and competitive packaging for the new series of vitamins, the design was developed in collaboration with the first-year students of the Master’s Program of the Design Faculty Department of Functional Design of the Art Academy of Latvia. The packaging design development was included in the study process of the Master’s Program first-year. During the project the students got to know the company closer by both meeting the managers of Grindeks, and seeing the manufacturing process in person.
JSC Grindeks Chairman of the Board Janis Romanovskis: “In cooperation with the Department of Functional Design of the Art Academy of Latvia, wanted to encourage young Latvian artists’ desire to focus on practical, everyday-use design solutions. The packaging design options, developed by the students of the Art Academy of Latvia, surprised us with creativity, originality and suitability to the pharmaceutical industry. Looking at the excellent results, I can say that in this project we have succeeded to get closer together so diverse sectors as the pharmaceutical industry and the arts. The new Gritamin® packaging is modern, original, convincing, and carries a clear message.”
Head of Design Department of the Art Academy of Latvia prof. Holger Elers: “Cooperation within the framework of the study process, which took place between the Design Department of the Art Academy of Latvia and the company Grindeks, from the student point of view, was the real situation in which the designer collaborates with the client. The work has clearly been sharp and dynamic both in terms of the process and of idea generation. Overwhelmed the developed and detailed terms of reference by Grindeks, which was the basis for a successful and high-quality results. There are not many companies that are able to so clearly define the need of design to increase quality of their own product.”
Currently “Design Graduate Days 2011” of the Art Academy of Latvia are taking place, under which on 10 June 2011 at 10.00, a presentation on the joint project – “Good Practice of Design in Companies” will take place.
