During its first eight months of operation, the line produced 719,700 packs of solid oral dosage forms, accounting for 9% of the total volume of finished dosage form packs handled by Grindeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The investment covered the development and equipping of a dedicated finished dosage form packaging area, installation of the packaging line, acquisition of technological equipment, and implementation of quality control and traceability solutions. The packaging processes comply with EU Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements governing pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality control and packaging operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Baiba Galvi\u0146a, Head of Production at JSC Grindeks, comments:<\/strong> <em>\u201cAs demand for Grindeks products increased, we looked for ways to ease pressure on production capacity in Riga while retaining sufficient flexibility in future production planning. The additional equipment required to introduce a new packaging format can cost \u20ac50,000\u201360,000, while the packaging lines in Riga and Tallinn are technologically identical. Using compatible lines at both manufacturing sites allows us to reduce dependence on a single location, plan production more efficiently and introduce new products or packaging formats with greater flexibility. In practice, this kind of setup contributes both to cost efficiency and to long-term operational resilience.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Kadri Randveer, Head of JSC Tallinna Pharmaceutical Plant, informs:<\/strong> <em>\u201cIn the pharmaceutical industry, competitiveness is increasingly determined not only by manufacturing capacity, but also by the ability to adapt flexibly to changing market conditions. Our focus is on gradually expanding the plant\u2019s manufacturing capabilities so that, over time, it can take on a broader range of projects and strengthen its role within the Grindeks Group. This direction also supports Europe\u2019s broader objective of strengthening the resilience of pharmaceutical manufacturing and improving access to critical medicines.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At present, JSC Tallinna Pharmaceutical Plant packages five medicinal products across several therapeutic areas. The plant also has additional capacity for the manufacture of finished dosage forms, as well as infrastructure for further expansion of packaging capacity.
