On March 26, one of the most significant events in the Latvian healthcare sector, the ceremonial \u201cMedical Excellence Awards\u201d took place at the Splendid Palace cinema. During the event, JSC Grindeks presented its highest professional honor, the D. H. Grindel Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to medicine and science. This year\u2019s laureate is K\u0101rlis Tru\u0161inskis, cardiologist at Pauls Stradi\u0146\u0161 Clinical University Hospital<\/strong> and Associate Professor at R\u012bga Stradi\u0146\u0161 University. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Kirovs Lipmans, Chairman of the Council of Grindeks:<\/strong>\u201cProfessor K\u0101rlis Tru\u0161inskis stands out for his academic vision, which significantly advances cardiology in Latvia. His contributions to patient care and scientific research demonstrate how high-level medical expertise, analytical thinking, and a systematic approach can positively impact public health on a broad scale. Professor Tru\u0161inskis work serves as a benchmark for both his colleagues and future generations of physicians, proving that professionalism and scientific passion are foundational to the sustainable development of the field of cardiology.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n

Associate Professor K\u0101rlis Tru\u0161inskis is a cardiologist at Pauls Stradi\u0146\u0161 Clinical University Hospital, a board member of the Latvian Society of Cardiology, a lecturer at R\u012bga Stradi\u0146\u0161 University\u2019s Department of Internal Medicine, and President of the Latvian Hypertension and Atherosclerosis Society.<\/p>\n\n

The D. H. Grindel Award <\/strong>was designed by artist Anda Munkevica. The sculpture, titled \u201cHope\u201d, symbolizes the harmony between strength and fragility \u2013 two essential qualities in healthcare. Grindeks, the leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in the Baltic States, has been the general sponsor of the \u201cAnnual Medicine Award\u201d for many years.<\/p>\n\n

About the Award<\/strong>The D. H. Grindel Award is the highest professional honour in the fields of medicine and pharmacy in Latvia. It is named after D\u0101vids Hieron\u012bms Grindel (1776\u20131836) \u2013 the first Latvian-born natural scientist, physician, pharmacist and professor. Established in 1995, the award has been granted to numerous distinguished figures in Latvian healthcare, including Prof. Dr. med. Andrejs \u0112rglis, Prof. Dr. med. Juris Pokrotnieks, Prof. Dr. med. In\u0101ra Logina, Dr. med. Vilnis Dz\u0113rve-T\u0101luts, Dr. chem. Osvalds Pugovi\u010ds, Prof. Dr. habil. chem. Ivars Kalvi\u0146\u0161, Dr. chem. J\u0101nis Polis and many others.<\/p>\n\n
