On Wednesday, 26 March<\/strong>, the prestigious \u201cAnnual Medicine Award\u201d ceremony was held at the Splendid Palace cinema \u2013 one of the most significant events in Latvia\u2019s healthcare sector. During the ceremony, Grindeks presented its highest recognition \u2013 the D. H. Grindel Award<\/strong> \u2013 to Professor Ilze Konrade<\/strong>, Head of the Endocrinology Department at R\u012bgas Austrumu kl\u012bnisk\u0101 universit\u0101tes slimn\u012bca<\/strong> and Professor at Riga Stradi\u0146\u0161 University, for her outstanding contribution to the development of Latvian medicine. The award was presented by Dr. chem. Juris Hme\u013c\u0146ickis<\/strong>, Chairman of the Board of Grindeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Ilze Konrade is a lecturer and professor at the Department of Internal Diseases at Riga Stradi\u0146\u0161 University. She is also the Director of the \u201cHealthcare\u201d study programme and the \u201cMedicine\u201d sub-programme under the university\u2019s doctoral department. Alongside her academic work, she leads the Endocrinology Department at R\u012bgas Austrumu kl\u012bnisk\u0101 universit\u0101tes slimn\u012bca<\/strong>. Professor Konrade is highly respected as both a physician and educator, and her contribution to improving patient care and educating future medical professionals is of great importance to the development of healthcare in Latvia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The D. H. Grindel Award<\/strong> was designed by artist Anda Munkevica<\/strong>. The sculpture, titled \u201cHope\u201d<\/em>, symbolizes the harmony between strength and fragility \u2013 two essential qualities in healthcare. Grindeks, the leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in the Baltic States, has been the general sponsor of the \u201cAnnual Medicine Award\u201d for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Award<\/strong>
The D. H. Grindel Award<\/strong> is the highest professional honour in the fields of medicine and pharmacy in Latvia. It is named after D\u0101vids Hieron\u012bms Grindel (1776\u20131836)<\/strong> \u2013 the first Latvian-born natural scientist, physician, pharmacist and professor. Established in 1995, the award has been granted to numerous distinguished figures in Latvian healthcare, including Prof. Dr. med. Andrejs \u0112rglis, Prof. Dr. med. Juris Pokrotnieks, Prof. Dr. med. In\u0101ra Logina, Dr. med. Vilnis Dz\u0113rve-T\u0101luts, Dr. chem. Osvalds Pugovi\u010ds, Prof. Dr. habil. chem. Ivars Kalvi\u0146\u0161, Dr. chem.
